The Chittoor police have developed a children’s park around the police station at Gudipala, 10 km from here.

Superintendent of Police Vikrant Patil, who inaugurated the park, told reporters that the station, built three decades ago, had been well maintained by personnel. “Apart from making repairs and undertaking reconstruction works at the station, personnel have developed the park with well-planned layouts and gardening, besides setting up facilities to host sports and games for children,” he said.

Sense of responsibility

Stating that it was a first of its kind child-friendly police park in the district, the SP said that by playing in the park, the public, particularly children, would develop a sense of responsibility towards society and shed misconceptions about the police.

“From a tender age, children will begin to see personnel as protectors of law and order and lovers of peace. Initiatives such as police parks will instil confidence among public for police,” he said, thanking donors who funded the works.

Mr. Patil said similar parks would be planned at some other stations in the district.

Additional SP (Admin) E. Supraja, Deputy SP N. Subba Rao and Circle-Inspector (Chittoor West) M. Adinarayana were present.
