Plan to generate 5 lakh jobs in IT, says Palle

The State government is planning to attract investments to the tune of Rs. 12,000 crore in the Information Technology sector and generating five lakh jobs in the next five years.

The idea is to provide internet connection to every household to ensure at least one IT expert from each house, according to Palle Raghunath Reddy, Minister for IT.

Announcing this here after inaugurating the IT incubation tower at the IT SEZ in Sarpavaram, Mr. Reddy said “in the united State, the IT turnover was 65,000 crore and the employment generation was 3.3 lakh. Now the turnover has come down drastically to Rs. 1,600 crore and employment was only 22,000,” he said.

Mr. Reddy said the State government was keen on achieving development in the IT sector and chalked out a comprehensive plan for the next five years.

“The single window cell will accord all clearances to the IT companies within 21 days on the receipt of applications. Besides providing land, electricity and drinking water facilities, the government is also offering various concessions to the IT entrepreneurs,” he said.

MLA Pilli Ananthalakshmi presided. Home Minister N. Chinna Rajappa, Secretary to the State government (IT) B. Sreedhar, Collector H. Arun Kumar, officials and local elected representatives were present.

Single window cell will give clearances to IT companies within 21 days.
