Pig rearer stabs another

A pig rearer Chakali Siva, 35, allegedly attacked another pig rearer Venkatesh of Velugodu with a sickle causing a severe wound on his neck, when the latter demanded repayment of money for the pigs sold to him, in Bhavananthapuram village in Atmakur mandal on Wednesday.

Sought payment

Venkatesh, who sold 40 pigs to Siva two months ago, went to Bhavananthapuram and demanded Siva to repay the debt, Atmakur Circle Inspector M. Diwakar Reddy said.

In lieu of money, Siva asked him to take back his 40 pigs.

An altercation ensued between them when Venkatesh tried to take five more pigs in addition to his 40 pigs and Siva attacked him with a sickle, the Inspector said.

Venkatesh was rushed to Kurnool general hospital, where his condition was said to be critical.

Siva was arrested and an attempt to murder case was booked on him, Mr. Diwakar Reddy said.
