Ending days of anxious wait of party activists, Jana Sena Party on Tuesday announced that its president Pawan Kalyan would contest from Bhimavaram in West Godavari and Gajuwaka in Visakhapatnam districts for the Assembly elections. Mr. Pawan is likely to give a tough competition to the TDP’s sitting MLAs who won with huge vote margins last time in both the constituencies.
The party nominated former CBI Joint Director and retired IPS officer V.V. Lakshminarayana, who joined the party on Sunday, for the Visakhapatnam Lok Sabha seat.
In a release, JSP political affairs committee convener Madasu Gangadhar said the decision was taken considering the recommendations of the general body which conducted a State-wide survey.
Mr. Pawan would face senior leader and sitting MLA Pulaparthi Ramanjaneyulu of the TDP and former MLA Srinivas Grandhi of the YSRCP in Bhimavaram. In Gajuwaka, he would face Tippala Nagi Reddy of the YSRCP and sitting MLA Palla Srinivasa Rao of the TDP.
