Parking lots needed

June 01, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 06:00 am IST

Vehicular traffic is increasing by the day, but provision of parking lots is not matching the demand.

Vehicles are parked on the road.

Big malls and food parlours lack sufficient parking space.

As a result, major roads are always chock-a-block with vehicles during peak hours. The municipal administration is on the one hand not providing parking lots and on the other giving permission for multi-storeyed commercial complexes.

It is high time the roads were widened and parking lots created.

For a better governance

Both the Prime Minister and the Chief Minister appear to be vying with each other in announcing schemes for the common man.

But they are not ensuring that the benefits reach the targeted people.

A major part of the money is being swindled by various persons down the line.

To ensure better governance, the ground level supervision is done by the tehsildar. It is also monitored by the District Collector. The administration should be insulated from political interference.

The Commissioner, who again should be free from political interference, should ensure implementation of the schemes and give a report to the Secretary, who will in turn apprise the political bosses.
