APSHCL notices discrepancies after taking up geo-tagging of houses built in the last 10 years

The Cabinet sub-committee for curbing corruption which reviewed lapses in previous housing programme for weaker sections from 2004 to 2014 has identified that funds to the tune of Rs.4,800 crore were misappropriated.

The discrepancies were noticed when the A.P. State Housing Corporation Ltd (APSHCL), had taken up geo-tagging of the houses constructed under the housing programme in the last 10 years. Of 41,37,606 houses targeted for geo-tagging, nearly 14 lakh houses turned out to be doubtful cases with invalid and duplicate IDs and about Rs.4,800 crore was shown towards expenditure on these houses.

The sub committee comprising Finance Minister Y. Ramakrishnudu, P. Narayana, Kimidi Mrinalini met here on Tuesday and resolved to appoint district-wise panels to identify houses sanctioned and assess the amount misused in each village.
