Several government departments and local bodies are major defaulters of the Andhra Pradesh Southern Power Distribution Company Limited (SDPCL).

The Panchayat Raj Department stands top in the list with total dues of ₹2,127 crore as on March 31. The Irrigation Department, and several municipalities and corporations followed suit. The total dues stood at ₹3,900 crore.

These facts came to light on the second day of the Collectors’ conference on Wednesday.

CM’s directive

Principal Secretary (Energy, Infrastructure and Investments) Ajay Jain said the Irrigation Department had to clear dues ₹1,531 crore. The municipalities had to clear ₹121 crore and the debt burden on the corporations stood at ₹29 crore. Another ₹92 crore had to be cleared by a few other departments, he said.

Responding to it, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu directed Chief Secretary Dinesh Kumar to look into the matter and take necessary steps.

Satisfaction level

“In the Energy Department, the overall satisfaction level is 71%. We have to focus on service standards along with delivery mechanisms to bring that up,” he said.

Earlier, referring to the solar parks being constructed in Anantapur, Kurnool, and Kadapa, Mr. Jain said the total capacity was 4,000 MW. Of which, 1,250 MW had been already commissioned.

On the 160 MW solar-wind hybrid project, which would have a storage capacity of 40 MW, coming up in Anantapur district, he said 978 acres had been identified at Ramagiri in the district.
