Close on the heels of former Union Minister and senior Congress leader Kotla Jaya Surya Prakash Reddy switching over to the Telugu Desam Party, another Union Minister Panabaka Lakshmi and her husband Krishnaiah are mulling over joining the regional party. The TDP has offered Ms. Lakshmi ticket for the Tirupati Lok Sabha seat as it is determined to wrest it from the YSR Congress Party, sources close to the former Congress MP told The Hindu .

“Ms. Lakshmi is analysing the pros and cons. No final decision has been taken yet,” the sources said.

“Ms. Lakshmi will be more comfortable in contesting from Bapatla, which she had represented earlier before losing to the TDP in 2014,” the sources said, and added that Mr. Krishnaiah was insisting on either Sulurpeta or Gudur Assembly seat for himself.
