Organs donated

The son of a 55-year-old security guard, Pusala Mallaiah, who was seriously injured in a road accident at Tank Bund on Saturday, May 16, donated his father’s organs to save seven lives under the Jeevandan organ donation programme.

After the accident, Mr. Mallaiah was shifted to Sai Vani Hospitals, near Indira Park, where incidentally, he was employed as a security guard.

After struggling to save his life, the attending neurosurgeons declared Mr. Mallaiah brain dead on Sunday, May 17. The son of the security guard, Yadgiri, who is working for a gas agency at Karimnagar, wife and two daughters, were counselled by Jeevandan co-ordinator Bhanu Prakash. “Mr. Yadgiri was very open to the suggestion of donating his father’s organs.” Jeevandan officials said.

The retrieved organs were allotted to seven needy patients based on the priority list prepared by Jeevandan.

Two kidneys, liver, two heart valves and two eyes were retrieved
