Rythubazaars, which were started by the A.P. government about 16 years ago, are going to tap technology for selling vegetables. They would also strengthen the hands of small and medium farmers and DWCRA women group. As part of it, rythu bazaars can now supply fresh vegetables to customers at their doorstep through e-valet.
JNTU-Kakinada and State Agriculture Department have come to an understanding for developing an application for selling from Rythubazaars’ vegetables online. The app will be ready in two to three weeks as aggregation of demand, number of farm producers’ organizations and other details were being worked out.
Chief Executive Officer of Rythubazaars V.B. Ramanamurthy told the media that they were going to introduce e-vegetables within a month and e-kiosks would be opened in East Godavari on a pilot basis to meet the demand of the customers.
“These e-kiosks will be opened in those areas where people want to have fresh vegetables on certain timings. For example, these e-kiosks will be opened from 6 a.m. to 7 a.m. in one area and 6.30 a.m. to 7.30 a.m. in another area. These details will be made available in online,” Mr. Murthy added.
He said that Rythubazaars had already gone for value addition in Vijayawada city and Guntur, and Tenali on a pilot basis. He explained that lemon vendors in Vijayawada Rythubazaar had started selling juices of different varieties and earning extra money. During yoga camps, farmers and DWCRA group members were selling bittergourd, bottlegourd and other juices. He also added that unlike Reliance and Spencer’s the farmers were giving quality lemon in Vijayawada by going for nuclear packing and selling them as hot cakes. The CEO said that the Rajamahendravaram Agriculture Market Yard (RAMY) where ripening unit for mangoes was started recently was supplying mangoes to all the Rythubazaars in the city. .
