One dead, 10 injured as buses collide

One person died and at least 10 persons were injured when two Andhra Pradesh Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) buses collided here on Saturday. The condition of two of them is critical, according to police.

The incident occurred owing to poor visibility because of smoke billowing out of a garbage dump.

The city bus on its way from Mylavaram to Vijayawada collided with Palle-Velugu bus, which was proceeding to Tiruvur from Vijayawada.

A woman, Y. Lakshmi, succumbed to injuries while being shifted to a private hospital in the city for treatment.

The Palle-Velugu bus driver, M. Raja Ram, had both his legs crushed in the accident.

His condition and that of city bus driver K. Prakash is said to be serious.

The injured passengers are being treated in the private hospital.
