With an estimated 7000-10000 children suffering from various causes of malnutrition, Chittoor district administration officials are gearing up to tackle the issue and eradicate it completely by March 2019.

Interacting with the media on sidelines of laying foundation stone for the alumni building of Sri Venkateswara Medical College (SVMC) - Prem Reddy Bhavan here on Saturday, Mr. Pradyumna remarked that malnutrition, if unaddressed, would have a cascading effect on the future generations of an individual’s family.

“Our main focus is to eradicate malnutrition and transform the children into healthy individuals by March 2019. In addition to our efforts, we request representatives from the medical fraternity to embark on projects/programmes addressing the issue of malnutrition across Chittoor district,” he said.

He added that concerted efforts from people and the government would result in proper implementation of welfare schemes, hence the involvement of people in the Smart Village programme by Smart AP Foundation.
