Officials of AP Transco and the four distribution companies have been asked to ensure proper power supply to drinking water schemes so that water supply to people is not affected by the present power cuts.
Reviewing the situation here on Friday with the officials, Dinesh Kumar, Principal Secretary, Energy, sought steps by AP Genco to maintain adequate coal stocks at its thermal stations to enable their full-scale operation at this hour of need. They were instructed to scrupulously avoid forced outage of these stations.
The distribution companies were asked to maintain a 4 per cent rolling stock of transformers to ensure replacement of the failed transformer within the stipulated time and facilitate uninterrupted supply to farmers. He said the agriculture sector should get seven-hour supply as stipulated as crops would have to be saved to the last acre,
Quoting Mr. Kumar later, an official release said the Petroleum & Natural Gas Ministry had approved the proposal made by the State to allow supply of re-gasified liquefied natural gas (RLNG) to private projects. Mr. Kumar sought immediate steps to expedite signing of the necessary agreements the Gas Authority of India Limited and Reliance Industries Limited for supply of RLNG to these plants.
