No sexual overtones behind suicide: police

Over 30 classmates of Anusha questioned

The ongoing probe into the suicide by K. Anusha (21), a B.Tech final year student of a private engineering college at Chimakurthy, revealed no sexual overtones, according to the police.

Darsi Circle Inspector K. Ragavendra and his team visited the college campus on Monday and questioned over 30 classmates of the student, who had committed suicide by hanging herself.

Students revealed that Anusha, studying Electronics and Communication Engineering, had a score of about 70 per cent so far. They said she had even gone to the extent of slapping the Head of the Department (HoD) over the marks she was awarded in a test. She was depressed after the incident, the students told the CI, adding that Anusha’s father, Rami Reddy had even apologised to the college management for her misbehaviour.

“Nothing negative has been said against the HoD by the students whom we questioned so far. We cannot come to any conclusion as of now,” the CI said. More students would be questioned on Tuesday, he said. The police had registered a case based on a complaint lodged by the girl’s father alleging harassment by the HOD.
