Deputy Speaker Mandali Buddha Prasad on Monday stated that the anti-snake venom (ASV) was available in all the primary health centres across the Diviseema Island.

Mr. Buddha Prasad, accompanied by the Medical and Health staff, on Monday inspected the government hospitals, including Avanigadda area hospital, enquiring about the treatment facilities for the snakebite. Responding to the rise in the number of snakebite cases, he has directed the doctors in the government hospitals to provide the medical treatment to the patients round the clock. “The patients of snakebite are rushing to the Avanigadda area hospital expecting better facilities than the primary health centres in the Diviseema Island. However, the ASV veils are available in all the PHCs,” said Mr. Buddha Prasad.

On Monday, at least two more patients have been admitted to Avanigadda area hospital for treatment for the snakebite.

According to the office of the hospital services coordinator, at least 2,000 ASV veils have been arranged for the six primary health centres in the Diviseema island.

The medical and health staff at the PHCs at Koduru, Mandapakala, Vekanuru, Sorlagondi, Edurumondi and Nagayalanka have been alerted to ensure admission to the patients with snakebite without referring them to the area hospital for the basic treatment. “The doctors associated with all the government hospitals have been directed to be vigilant,” said Mr. Buddha Prasad.

‘Don’t rely on quacks’

The local communities have been requested not to rely upon the unqualified doctors for the first aid for the snakebite and instead rush to the nearest government hospital to save the life of patients.
