Interruptions in power supply are sporadic, they are due to breakdowns and falling of trees, and not because the government imposed power-cut as is being alleged by the TDP, Home Minister M. Sucharita has said.
Addressing the media along with officials of the APSPDCL in Guntur on Sunday, Ms. Surcharita said power was already being supplied to the farm sector for nine hours. Power was also being supplied free of cost up to 200 units per month to SC and ST households, benifitting two lakh families.
The transmission and distribution (T&D) losses had come down considerably in the recent months, notably after the YSRCP formed the government, she claimed.
Ms. Sucharita said development took a back seat during the TDP rule and that the present government was setting things right. The opposition parties were spreading canards on the government, she alleged.
Snipe at TDP
The TDP was politicising the construction of a wall at Ponugupadu of Phirangipuram mandal in the district, adding that it was a dispute between two villages that the TDP had blown out of proportion.
