Students of National Institute of Technology (NIT) at Tadepalligudem in West Godavari district will attend classes in the institution’s own buildings from the next academic year, according to Secretary, Ministry of Human Resource Development, R. Subrahmanyam.

Mr. Subramanyam, who visited the NIT’s permanent campus site where construction works were in progress, laid the stone for the second phase of the construction of buildings coming up at an estimated cost of ₹145 crore.

Saplings planted

He also inaugurated the central workshop facility and estate office, the construction of which had been completed, and planted saplings. Expressing satisfaction over the pace of constructions, he said, of all the NIT campuses in the country, the one in A.P. stood out for many reasons.

Pointing to the fact that it had been completed in just one-and-a-half years unlike other institutions that took three to four years, he attributed it to “good team work” and “efficient leadership.”

Mr. Subrahmanyam also visited the extended campus, and said NIT-AP was a model institution in more ways than one. Institution Director C.S.P. Rao, Director of NIT, Warangal, N.V. Ramana Rao, and Registrar G.A. Prasad Rao were present.

NIT-AP started functioning from the academic year 2015-16 under the mentorship of NIT, Warangal.

Construction of the academic building, hotel facility, guest house and administration block was taken up in the first phase.

Classes are being conducted at Sri Vasavi Engineering College at Peda Tadepalli near Tadepalligudem.
