New excise policy

It is aimed at checking illicit liquor: Minister

Excise Minister Kollu Ravindra on Monday said the new liquor policy has been introduced with an intention to check the flow of illicit liquor in the State. Talking to reporters here Mr. Ravindra said to strike a balance in the sale of liquor vis-a-vis maintain the quality, check the MRP that the government has decided to run 10 percent of retail liquor outlets in the state. The government-run retail outlets which shall act as a deterrent in the flow of illicit liquor also will be helpful in maintaining checks and balances on the liquor sale. In reply to a question he said the government had already acted tough on the belt shops.

Earlier he offered prayers at the hill temple of Lord Venkateswara.
