Former Chief Minister and TDP national president N. Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday said he had never committed any mistake during his five-year rule, and instead worked tirelessly to generate employment for youth and develop the State on several fronts.

Addressing a public meeting at Gudupalle mandal headquarters on the second day of his visit to in Kuppam constituency, Mr. Naidu said he had devoted his time and energies to the development aspects and drive away drought from the State. “I have created assets and distributed the fruits to all,” he said.

TDP vision

Claiming that his tenure stood testimony to the TDP government’s vision for development above political lines, Mr. Naidu said, “Before considering Kuppam, top priority was given to Pulivendula in providing water. Water from the Handri-Neeva project will be brought to Kuppam at any cost. I will mount pressure on the State government to ensure it.”

With a view to salvaging the State post bifurcation, I had left no stone unturned to attract major companies, and cited as examples the setting up of HCL in Amaravati and KIA Motors in Anantapur. Stating that he would henceforth accord prime importance to the voice of the party workers at the grass roots, he said, “Special teams will be sent to all the 13 districts to interact with the cadres and consider their suggestions. When faced with defeat, I have never stepped back from struggle. The party cadres should strive hard to bring back the past glory.” Mr. Naidu was given a rousing reception at Kuppam and Gudupalle. A number of women cadres met Mr. Naidu and expressed their dismay over the debacle of the party despite “achieving unprecedented development and launching various welfare schemes.”

There was not much fanfare during Mr. Naidu’s visit. For the first time in its history since inception, the TDP faced rout in the district. Except Kuppam, where Mr. Naidu won, it lost the remaining 13 constituencies.
