Stating that the ‘Neeru-Chettu’ programme launched by the State government was beneficial to farmers, Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan on Tuesday called upon people to make the programme a success.

On the second day of his East Godavari district tour, Mr. Narasimhan inspected the ongoing de-silting works at Panduru water tank, spread over 25 acres, on the outskirts of the city and planted a coconut sapling on the bund. He said ‘Neeru-Chettu’ was aimed at ensuring rainwater harvesting. Later, Mr. Narasimhan, along with his wife Vimala, visited the handloom clusters at Uppada and interacted with the ‘Jamdhani’ weavers.

Earlier in the day, the Governor had a detailed discussion with Vice-Chancellor of the Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University Kakinada (JNTUK) V.S.S. Kumar at the R&B guesthouse.
