It tilted while being parked and fell on a cargo vehicle

July 19, 2019 03:06 pm | Updated 03:06 pm IST - TIRUPATI:

Forty passengers of a private bus from Visakhapatnam to Bengaluru had a narrow escape near the Renigunta checkpost here early on July 19.

The driver was apparently trying to stop the vehicle near a roadside coffee kiosk, when it tilted and fell on a cargo vehicle. The road was slippery due to overnight rain.

The CCTV footage taken from the location shows the driver taking a sharp curve suddenly and the vehicle swerving and tilting.

The passengers slowly alighted from the vehicle and went to a nearby hotel. Renigunta Urban police rushed to the spot and helped to bring the vehicle back on the road. The bus continued its journey after a brief gap.

Bus catches fire

Meanwhile, a Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation bus caught fire when it was parked on Chintalachenu Road, just a few metres away from the APSRTC central bus station. The bus mysteriously caught fire and the crew sleeping inside rushed out on seeing the smoke. Though fire tenders rushed in to douse the flames from the engine on the rear, it had suffered damage by then.
