All set for a grand finale of TDP president N. Chandrababu Naidu’s padayatra culminating in a public meeting at AU Engineering College Grounds here on Saturday.
Completing 2,840 km roughly in 208 days, Mr. Naidu will reach a place near toll gate, one km away from the pylon, at Aganampudi by Friday night. He will reach the pylon around 3 p.m. on Saturday.
Giving details at a press conference here on Friday evening, TDP polit bureau member Y. Ramakrishnudu said Mr. Naidu will unveil the statue of TDP founder president N.T. Rama Rao and the pylon and a plaque on the significance of the padayatra.
Four other statues- Mahatma Gandhi, Jyotirao Phule, B.R. Ambedkar and party leader K. Yerran Naidu- could not be installed owing to time constraints. Mr. Naidu will arrive in a rally from the site of the pylon to the venue, about 24 km on the National Highway, and address the public meeting. The address will focus on his experience of learning the hardships of people based on his interactions and the solutions he would provide to them. Stating that all arrangements were made by the committees formed to hold the big meeting, he and former Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao did not hazard a guess on the number of people expected to attend the meeting saying it was difficult. Twelve special trains, a number of buses and four-wheelers would bring the cadres to the venue besides those coming by regular modes of transport.
They parried questions on the participation of the family members of NTR stating that there was no information on that till now.
The entire expenditure for the padayatra and the public meeting was being borne by the party, Mr. Ramakrishnudu said in reply to a question. The meeting will begin around 3:30 p.m..
