Naidu’s true colours exposed, tweets Jagan

‘Eswaraiah’s disclosures prove that CM is biased against Backward Classes’

Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly and president of the YSR Congress Party Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy in a tweet said that the recent disclosures of former chairman of the National Commission for Backward Classes V. Eswaraiah about Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu blocking the appointment of two Backward Class advocates becoming judges exposed the latter’s true feelings for the Backward Classes.

In a twitter message tagged to the Chief Minister’s personal account (@ncbn) Mr Jagan said, Recent disclosures by Justice Eswaraiah had exposed (Mr.) Naidu’s so-called “sincerity” towards Backward Classes.

“You claim to accord priority to BC welfare, then why did you oppose the appointment of BC advocates as Judges? Why did you provide false feedback to prevent their appointment?” Mr. Jagan tweeted.

Mr. Eswaraiah, at a media conference in Visakhapatnam on Tuesday, alleged that the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister in a letter said that five advocates, two of them from the Backward Classes, lacked the eligibility or the integrity to be made judges. While Telangana Chief Minister K.Chandrasekhar Rao wrote after just one month, Mr Naidu took 11 months saying that the BC advocates were not eligible.

‘Caste bias’

Several agencies, including the Intelligence Bureau, make a thorough inquiry into the personal and professional track record of the advocates over a period of two decades. Only after that were the names proposed for judge post, Mr. Eswaraiah had pointed out.

Mr. Eswaraiah charged Mr Naidu with appointing people from his community to all the key posts in the government and added that the Backward Classes would not develop until they were given appointments in all posts.
