Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Saturday exhorted the Education officials to take steps to make high schools incubation centres and turn those as venues for students to display their innovations.

“An environment should be created where each school becomes a start-up village in itself and students hone their innovative skills,” Mr. Naidu said. The Chief Minister held a review meeting on the progress of the Education Department with District Education Officers and Regional Joint Directors on the progress achieved by the department.

He wanted the department to spare no effort in taking forward the ‘Badi Pilustondi’ programme as a movement to promote literacy. The Government has targeted 7.5 per cent growth rate in literacy over the next few years to ensure that AP becomes totally literate State in four years.

In this context, he wanted the officials to ensure that there were no dropouts. The government, on its part, would shortly introduce bio-metric attendance system in all schools, while absence of teachers during the working days would be viewed seriously. “There should be proper supervision of the functioning of the schools and there has to be accountability on those involved in the sector,” he said.

The Chief Minister, who interacted with students of a few schools through video conference, appreciated the foundation courses launched on a pilot basis in some schools. “Given the results, the schools will certainly improve, once the project is fully implemented,” he said.
