Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu visited the global headquarters of DuPont Pioneer, a leading producer of hybrid seeds and genetically-modified crops, at Iowa on the second day of his US tour.

DuPont Pioneer Vice-President (integrated solutions) Brad Lance explained how the company was able to repose the customer confidence for eight decades and it is still going strong in plant genetics.

He focused on research projects and business operations in more than 90 countries spanning the development and distribution of high-quality corn, soyabeans, sorghum, sunflower, alfalfa, canola, wheat, rice, cotton, pearl millet and mustard seed as well as forage additives and a variety of services and expertise.

Mechanised farms

Mr. Naidu asked about the influence of factors like the quality of seeds, climate and soil management on productivity and sought to know ways to improve it further.

The DuPont scientists promised to extend their cooperation having extensively worked in Warangal, Guntur, East and West Godavari districts in the stated areas of R&D.

Later, Mr. Naidu and his team visited mechanised farms, where they obtained inputs on utilising the latest technologies.
