Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Friday urged Non-resident Indians (NRIs) and Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs) to adopt villages as part of State government’s flagship “smart village” programme.

Speaking at the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas at Gandhinagar in Gujarat, he said NRIs serve as bridge by providing access to markets, sources of investment, expertise, knowledge and technology. Andhra Pradesh has a very high number of NRIs, who could be part of the State’s development process.

Observing that A.P. has a massive potential for PPP investments and was poised to attract $ 20,000-30,000 million investment in the next decade, he said “We also have plans to develop the world’s largest ring road – 180 km at $5,000 million”.

He said Andhra Pradesh offered a large bouquet of opportunities for investments in the infrastructure sector. A Single-Desk system will prove advantageous for industries. “ The aim of his government was to make A.P. one of the three top performing States in India by 2022.
