Telugu Desam Party president N. Chandrababu Naidu was forced to hear voices of dissatisfaction from people who seemed to be irked with the alliance that was inked between the Bharatiya Janata Party-led National Democratic Alliance and the TDP on Sunday.
The voices continued even as Mr. Naidu and senior BJP leaders, Prakash Javdekar and Piyush Goyal, addressed a press conference together.
When references were made by presspersons, he said that in elections there were always ‘merits and de-merits’ and that any alliance/political development would be in the interest of the nation and the State.
‘Sacrifices inevitable’“In any political party, there will be aspirants and sacrifices are inevitable in national interest. Both sides of the coin have to be considered,” he said, adding that the endeavour currently was to remove the ‘misrule, the corrupt rule of the Congress and the United Progressive Alliance’ and provide stable governance sans corruption.
The TDP, he pointed out, had played an active role in the past as far as the NDA Government was concerned.
Mynampalli quits TDPThe two leaders whose supporters created a ruckus outside Mr. Naidu’s residence were Bonda Umamaheswara Rao whose followers wanted the Vijayawada Central ticket for the TDP and given to him and sitting TDP MLA from Medak, Mynampalli Hanumantha Rao, whose friends also wanted him to be allowed to contest from Malkajgiri Assembly constituency.
Later in the afternoon, Mr Rao told mediapersons that he was quitting the TDP and contesting as an independent candidate from Malkajgiri.
