Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Tuesday charged the Modi government with indulging in the politics of conspiracy to malign his image and mar the prospects of the TDP in the 2019 elections.
The Chief Minister participated in the second ‘Dharma Porata Deeksha’ seeking justice after the Centre had “failed to implement the promises made to the State in the AP Reorganisation Act, 2014” at the AU College of Engineering grounds here.
Mr. Naidu told the large gathering that the ‘Dharma Poratam’ was not for our needs but for the benefit of the future generations of AP. The first meeting was launched at Tirupati where Mr. Narendra Modi had promised four years ago as the prime ministerial candidate of the BJP that the assurances given in the Act would be implemented in letter and spirit.
He asked the gathering whether the Centre had implemented the promises and told them to support him to achieve the rights of the State. “I asked Telugus living everywhere to oppose the BJP and they gave it a drubbing in the Telugu-dominated constituencies in Karnataka.”
‘False allegations’
Mr. Naidu said the Modi government, the Opposition YSR Congress Party and the Jana Sena party (JSP) were making false allegations of corruption against him. He recalled how he was striving for the development despite lack of cooperation from the Centre in the allocation of funds.
Referring to the controversy over a diamond of the Lord Venkateswara temple in Tirumala, he opined that the former chief priest and the former Chief Secretary were being instigated by the Centre to indulge in mudslinging against the State government to create distrust among the people.
He charged the YSR Congress party workers with attacking a police station in Guntur after the rape of a minor to create law and order problems.
Similarly JSP president Pawan Kalyan, who had praised him till the other day, was now accusing him of corruption. Mr. Naidu said: “Pawan is reading the script of the BJP.”
Former Union Ministers P. Ashok Gajapathi Raju and Sujana Choudhary, Ministers N. China Rajappa, Nara Lokesh, Ganta Srinivasa Rao, Ch. Ayyanna Patrudu, Atchannaidu and Kala Venkata Rao were among those who spoke.
