Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu is leaving for the U.S. on a five-day tour from September 23. He is scheduled to depart from Hyderabad at 10 p.m. on September 22.
On September 25, Mr. Naidu will deliver a keynote address on Zero Budget Natural Farming (ZBNF) at an international seminar on ‘Financing sustainable agriculture: Global challenges and opportunities’ being jointly organised by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), UN Women, BNP Paribas SA, and World Agroforestry Centre at the United Nations General Assembly in New York. UNEP Executive Director Erik Solheim invited Mr. Naidu to share his experience in scaling up the zero chemical farming to six million farmers across Andhra Pradesh.
Mr. Solheim noted that the UNEP was privileged to support A.P.’s efforts thereof, and that global stakeholders wished to hear from Mr. Naidu the spirit of the South-South collaboration.
According to a government release, Mr. Naidu will take the opportunity to showcase the investment avenues in Amaravati to the international investor community on the sidelines of the event.
During his stay in the U.S., Mr. Naidu will meet India’s permanent representative at the UN Syed Akbaruddin and also interact with a host of dignitaries such as World Bank President Jim Yong Kim, UN Women Executive Director Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka, BNP Paribas CEO Jean Laurent Bonnafe, Mr. Solheim, and Google director (media and telco) Tom Moore.
Public meting
Mr. Naidu will also take part in a round-table to be organised by the U.S.-India Strategic Partnership Forum and a public meeting being organised by the TDP in New Jersey.
