Recalling the arbitrary manner in which the Congress divided the unified State of Andhra Pradesh three years ago, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu said he was striving to get the Centre to deliver its promises to the State.

He expressed confidence that the BJP-led NDA government would stand by its commitment to give more funds in the package than what was envisaged under the Special Category Status.

Inaugurating the ‘Navanirmana Deeksha,’ marking the completion of three years of bifurcation on the Appointed Day (June 2), at the Benz Circle here on Friday, Mr. Naidu said the TDP had tied up with the BJP to fight against the Congress, which ruined the country.

Quick growth

The Congress, he said, had chosen to divide unified A.P. without taking the people into confidence, to serve its own interests.

Devoid of a Capital city and with a revenue deficit of ₹16,000 crore, A.P. had started its journey on a sober note but quickly grew into a position of envy.

In a week-long event that began simultaneously in all 13 districts, Ministers administered a pledge and spoke on the road ahead.

The programme is scheduled to end in Kakinada on June 8 with a ‘Maha Sankalpam’.
