Continuing his tirade against Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu on Thursday challenged the Centre for an open debate on the ‘injustice’ meted out by the Centre to the State.

Addressing the ‘Janmabhoomi-Maa Ooru’ programme at Atchampet here, Mr. Naidu said the BJP was equally to be blamed for the bifurcation along with the Congress but he allied with it for the sake of the people of the State. The State was staring at a huge revenue loss, left without a Capital and no resources, and hence, he had supported the BJP.

‘Humiliation’

Mr. Modi betrayed the people of the State after pledging to develop it at the public meetings in Tirupati and Guntur. He had not only failed to fulfil his promises but also humiliated him by not giving appointment many times.

The Centre gave just ₹1,500 crore for the Capital, ₹1,000 crore for the UGD work in Guntur and washed its hands off. Even for the Polavaram project for which estimates had been pegged at ₹58,000 crore, the Centre had allotted just ₹7,000 crore.

“Mr. Modi says there will be a change in the government in AP but I am saying the whole country is seeking a change. Anti-NDA wind is sweeping the country and its defeat is imminent.’’

Saying Mr. Modi had been lying since he had come to power, Mr. Naidu questioned the latter’s motives on bringing the corrupt persons to book. On the other hand, the AP government had shown its intent by arresting the AgriGold scam operators and providing relief to the customers.

“This time, the NDA is dreaming that it can defeat the TDP by forging an unholy alliance with Jagan Mohan Reddy but the people are intelligent. Like in Tamil Nadu, they will not allow the BJP a foothold,” said Mr. Naidu.

Earlier, he arrived at the meeting in a procession, lighted the Bhogi fire and distributed gifts to the expectant mothers.

Ministers Prathipati Pulla Rao, Nakka Ananda Babu, Collector Kona Sasidhar and Pedakurapadu MLA Kommalapati Sridhar were present.
