Naidu briefs PM on fiscal status

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu is reported to have apprised Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the precarious financial situation of the State and believed to have urged the Centre to grant Special Category Status for 15 years.

The Chief Minister, who interacted with Mr. Modi at Satish Dhawan Space Centre, Sriharikota, Nellore district, also reportedly submitted a representation Mr. Modi listing out various demands, including the need for the Centre to bear the entire budget deficit of Rs.15,000 crore this year, granting special package for North coastal and Rayalaseema districts and the expeditious establishment of national institutions like IIT, IIM, IIIT and AIIMS-type medical institute.
