Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu wanted the MPs to take up the delay in reimbursing Rs.2,218 crore spent towards Polavaram project during the next Parliament session.
"The Central Government should either construct the Polavaram Project or grant the funds to the State Government," said Mr. Naidu. He further said that if the Central Government was prepared to complete the project within the specified period, then the State Government would extend all support and would not impose any conditions.
Briefing the mediapersons about Mr. Naidu's meeting with Telugu Desam party MPs at the CM's camp Office here on Tuesday, Union Minister of Science and Technology Y.Sujana Chowdary said a host of issues were discussed.
The Union Minister said that the Niti Ayog Committee report, which was to be submitted by November 15 got delayed due to some unavoidable circumstances. " We are expecting the report to be ready by December 15," said Mr. Chowdary.
In addition to Special Category status, the MPs were instructed to stress on Special Package to Andhra Pradesh, besides Railway zone during the winter session of Parliament.
"We will be taking up all the assurances made for development of Andhra Pradesh by the then Prime Minister on the floor of the house," he said.
He said that the State Government would be releasing a white paper on sand and bauxite mining shortly to clear all misunderstandings and the same would be taken up in the House. Emphasis would be laid on seeking a report on the Byyaram mines as the Central Government was conducting a study on the issue for past 18 months, he said.
On the delay in sanctioning financial aid to Andhra Pradesh, Mr. Chowdary said that the State Government had already submitted a preliminary report estimating the loss at Rs.3,000 crore and sought Rs.1,000 crore as advance.
" A final report would be prepared shortly as more rains are forecast for Nellore and neighbouring districts during the next few days," said Mr. Chowdary. This apart, the MPs were asked to discuss about assistance to 358 drought-hit mandals in the State.
