Actor K. Nagababu joined the Jana Sena Party (JSP) in the presence of its president and his younger brother Pawan Kalyan in Mangalagiri on Wednesday. He is being fielded from the Narsapuram Lok Sabha constituency.

Mr. Kalyan said he invited Mr. Nagababu to join the JSP and to seek the people’s mandate instead of being brought in through the back door. He called that Mr. Nagababu was his ‘guru’ and said that anyone could enter politics but should have the courage to face the electorate.

‘Amazing transformation’

Thanking Mr. Kalyan, Mr. Nagababu said he watched how his brother evolved from his childhood, when he would be reclusive, into a leader who gave up a lucrative career and took up cudgels on behalf of the masses. He wondered how many leaders were there like Mr. Kalyan committed to their ideals and observed that when asked to join the JSP, he felt happy but had tension within.

“We thought of contesting in the 2009 elections but it did not materialise due to the crisis in the Praja Rajyam Party. Now, we will prove ourselves,” Mr. Nagababu added.
