Mysuru will soon be back on air map

State govt. to sign MoU with Air India to operate flights

June 16, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:46 am IST - MYSURU:

Commercial flight operations to and from Mysuru are likely to commence soon with Air India appearing ready to operate its flights following the State government’s mediation.

Minister for Tourism and Higher Education R.V. Deshpande said here on Monday that his department had agreed to fill the “financial gap”, if any, to restore air connectivity. “The flight service had been suspended from Mysuru saying that it was financially unviable. But air connectivity to Mysuru is a key factor for developing tourism and therefore the government intervened on this matter,” he replied. All necessary formalities had been fulfilled and an MoU will be signed between the government and Air India, he added.
