BJP national secretary Sunil Deodhar on Saturday announced that Prime Minister Narendra Modi would address a public meeting in the State on January 6.

The place and venue of the meeting would be finalised soon, he added.

Addressing the media here, Mr. Deodhar alleged that the TDP government failed on all fronts. The BJP would be a force to reckon with in the State, he asserted. He also accused the government of changing the names of several Central government schemes in an attempt to claim credit for the same.

Party State office-bearers P. Sanyasi Raju and B. Shiva Prasad Reddy said the response to the door-to-door campaign was good in the rural areas. They said people were fed up with the TDP leaders, and were keen on teaching them a fitting lesson in the 2019 elections.

Earlier, Mr. Deodhar discussed with senior leaders the party’s position in various constituencies in Vizianagaram and Srikakulam districts. Mr. Deodhar was said to have told them to explain people about the Central government’s assistance to the State.

Mr. Modi might make some major announcements soon to win the hearts of the people of the State, he said.
