A minor fire broke out in the Railway Hospital here on Thursday night.
However, none was injured as the alert staff shifted the patients to other wards, the South Central Railway (SCR) officials said.
According to the hospital staff, the fire started in the post-operative ward and smoke engulfed the entire area.
The alert night duty doctor, Kavitha and chief matron Sri Lakshmi shifted the patients to other wards.
DRM surveys scene
On information, Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) R. Dhananjayulu, Chief Medical Superintendent Dr. N.C. Rao, Senior Divisional Electrical Engineer (Maintenance) Vara Prasad and other officials rushed to the hospital.
The DRM enquired about the cause of the mishap and the health condition of the patients in the post-operative ward.
Problem in AC unit
“The mishap occurred when a capacitor blasted in the AC unit. The staff put out the flames with fire extinguishers and prevented the spread of fire,” Mr. Dhananjayulu said.
