A befitting memorial has been sought for Tanguturi Prakasam Pantulu, the first Chief Minister of Andhra State, in the capital region on the lines of the one planned in memory of former Prime Minister P.V. Narasimha Rao in New Delhi.

Articulating the demand, the statesman’s grandson Tanguturi Gopalakrishna said: “It is nice that the TDP, a key constituent of the NDA, has taken the lead for constructing a memorial ghat for PVN, the architect of economic reforms, in the national capital.”

He added that the party should take initiative to construct a memorial for ‘Andhra Kesari’ in the capital region for the present generation to take inspiration from the statesman to build ‘Navya Andhra’.

It was under similar circumstances the first linguistic State of Andhra for Telugu people was formed in 1953 by dividing the composite Madras State, he recalled.
