Masula Port: govt asks villagers to fix priorities

May 25, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:56 am IST - MACHILIPATNAM:

The government on Sunday appealed to local communities to form a village-level six-member committee to fix their priorities and demands to allow the proposed deep sea port project in Machilipatnam.

Excise and B.C. Welfare Minister K. Ravindra, accompanied by officials on Sunday, communicated the government’s decision to local residents during a meet with farmers at Tapasipudi, Manginpudi and Mekavanipalem villages. “The State government will address the demands and resolutions to be taken by the village-level committee in a bid to speed up the port project. The draft notification will be released with the consent of local residents,” Mr. Ravindra said.
