Maoists’ designs foiled: Minister

: Minister for Home Ramesh Chennithala said here on Thursday that the Maoists’ attempt to implement their politico-military campaign in the State had been thwarted with the arrest of Roopesh and four others from Coimbatore.

Addressing a press conference here on Thursday, Mr. Chennithala said he regarded the arrest as a critical turning point in the fight against Maoist infiltration, achieved through the concerted efforts of the police forces of Kerala, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh. Steps have been initiated to get custody of the arrested.

Eighteen cases had been charged in the State for Maoist activities, including against Rupesh, the Home Minister said..
