A man, who allegedly saw his wife in the company of another person, bolted the house from outside and set it ablaze leaving both dead in Kollamitta village in Muthukur mandal of Sri Potti Sriramulu Nellore district on Wednesday.

The couple got separated three years ago and the woman reportedly developed intimacy with a prawn trader of Pantapalem village. On seeing the duo in her house, the enraged man bolted the hut from outside, collected petrol from the victim’s motorcycle parked outside, poured it on the thatched roof and set it afire.

He threatened the neighbours of dire consequences if they tried to save them. The accused fled after seeing the flames raging. Raghava Reddy, DSP (Nellore rural), and Krishnapatnam CI G. Srinivasa Rao rushed to the spot.
