June 10, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:42 am IST - HYDERABAD:

A stock broker who entered into the jaguar’s ‘night house’ at the Nehru Zoological Park, took pictures while ‘teasing’ the animal and posted it on Facebook was arrested by the Bahadurpura police on Tuesday.

Areeb Taha Mehdi, 26, of Akberbagh in Malakpet, went to Zoo Park on Saturday along with his friends. After going around the premises, he stopped near the enclosure of the jaguar. “After bribing the animal keeper, Areeb went to the night house, a restricted area, and pulled the legs of the animal,” DCP (South) V. Satyanarayana said.

The entire episode was filmed on a mobile phone by one of his friends. Areeb then posted the video and a set of pictures on Facebook and tagged it to some of his friends.

He also wrote on his post: I missed to tag few more friends, any one interested to have such mind blowing experience do let me know.

In the 41 second video, he was seen touching the jaguar even as the animal keeper helps him.

He then holds its legs and pats on the head.

Based on a complaint from the zoo officials, the Bahadurpura police registered a case under Section 448 of the Indian Penal Code and Section 38 (J) of Wild Life Protection Act 1972.
