In a bizarre incident, a man killed his wife and son, and later hanged himself at Gorle Sitaramapuram village in Bobbili mandal of this district around midnight on Sunday.
He had also attacked another son, who, however, escaped and alerted his neighbours.
Gandi Venkataramana (40) hacked his wife Gangamma (35) and two sons with a knife while they were asleep at home.
While Gangamma and the younger boy, Naveen, a student of Class VII, succumbed to their injuries at the spot, the older boy, Naga Praveen, a student of Class IX, rushed out with bleeding injuries and alerted neighbours.
Naga Praveen was rushed to the Bobbili Government Hospital initially and later, after first aid, to a hospital in Visakhapatnam where his condition was stated to stable, according to Bobbili DSP B.V. Ramana Murty.
