Man kills friend for insurance benefits

A 31-year-old man, along with four of his associates, allegedly killed his friend with an intention to claim an insurance of Rs. 30 lakh in Giddalur and made it appear like an accident.

Producing the accused, B. Guru Srirangam Srinivas alias BGS and his friend D. Srinivas, before the media here on Saturday, SP Ch. Srikanth said that the police were on a lookout for three other offenders including the kingpin’s girlfriend who allegedly had helped him execute the murder.

Initially, the names of parents of Madhusudan alias Madhu, the victim, were included in two insurance policies as nominees and after two months or so, BGS included his name as the assignee in both the policies.

In a bid to claim the insurance money, he hatched a plan to eliminate Madhu. BGS’s girlfriend studied the policies and facilitated easy settlement of the claims, the SP said.

BGS took a leaf from a plot of a Telugu movie while hatching the plan for the murder. After procuring an unused jeep, the kingpin hired a driver, Pathan Vali, to kill his friend, Madhusudan alias Madhu.

Vali rammed the jeep into the cycle Madhu was riding, resulting in his death, the SP said, adding that the murder was stage managed to appear like an accident.

The insurance firms had been asked not to settle the claims till the case was disposed of. “We have initiated the process for cancellation of the bail granted to the driver, said the SP .

He said that departmental action would be initiated against a head constable who rushed through the inquest, the doctor, who issued the post-mortem report, and the Motor Vehicle Inspector for negligence.
