Man held, booty recovered

Prakasam Police on Wednesday arrested a 22-year-old inter-State property offender and recovered stolen cash and motorcycle, all worth Rs. 7.37 lakh from his possession.

Additional Superintendent of Police B. Rama Naik told the media that the offender, Appala Naidu, had conducted a recce at a tyre shop on May 19. When the shopkeeper closed down the shop and went for lunch, he entered the shop and opened the cash box with a screw driver, before decamping with Rs. 8.59 lakh in cash.

The offender, a native of Srikakulam district, had relocated in Singarayakonda in Prakasam district. During interrogation, he confessed to stealing from a cement shop in Kandukur and lifting a motorcycle from Ongole Taluka Police limit. The CCS police recovered Rs 5.77 lakh in cash and a motorcycle worth Rs 1.6 lakh from Naidu, the ASP said.
