Tollywood superstar Mahesh Babu will adopt Burripalem, a minor panchayat in Tenali rural mandal, his brother-in-law and Guntur Member of Parliament Jayadev Galla has revealed.

The village is the native place of Mahesh’s father cinema actor Krishna and has been part of his earlier movies `` Praja Rajyam,’ `Pacchani Samsaram’, ` Burripalem Bullodu’ etc.

Mr. Jayadev said at a meeting held recently that Mahesh Babu would soon adopt Burripalem and address basic civic issues, like providing potable drinking water, internal roads and drainages. Jayadev is married to Padma, elder sister of Mahesh.

Mr. Krishna had always a soft corner for his native village and during an earlier visit to the village in 2008, he said that he had always favoured shooting at Burripalem if the script demands rural setting. The village surrounded by flowing canals and paddy fields offer perfect setting for stories in rural background, he said.

The news that Mahesh would adopt had spread in this small village. Sarpanch, Samrajyam said that lack of funds had been a major problem in addressing basic civic needs. The village has no internal roads, she said.
