Fans of Telugu film industry’s ‘Superstar’ Mahesh Babu went gaga over their hero, who was in the city on Saturday to take part in the ‘success meet’ of his latest movie Maharshi .

The film has been received well not only by the Telugu audience but in other States too. By the end of its first-week run, Maharshi is said to have collected a huge share of the moolah in both the Telugu-speaking States.

The actor, along with others associated with the film, visited the Kanaka Durga temple atop Indrakeeladri, to seek the goddess’ blessings in the afternoon. A large number of fans, who got wind of his proposed visit to the temple, guarded the place much in advance to catch a glimpse of their ‘Prince’. The delirious fans broke into slogans of ‘Superstar Mahesh Babu’ as he alighted from the car and started walking towards the temple. Repeatedly wiping sweat dripping from his forehead, he responded to wild cheers by slightly raising his hand.

His team members and the security personnel had tough time finding way for the actor to move forward as fans pounced from all sides, some for selfies and others to shake hands with him. In the film, Mahesh Babu plays Rishi, a millionaire businessman, who returns to his homeland, where he becomes the champion of poor and downtrodden farmers. Directed by Vamsi Paidipally, Maharshi features Pooja Hegde and Allari Naresh, who plays a crucial role in the film. Despite being a huge star, Mahesh Babu has always avoided limelight.

In the evening function, he sat quietly, intermittently flashing his trade mark smile, while every other person heaped praises on his work in this film.
