Law Minister K. Ravindra on Saturday announced that the beach festival would be celebrated here in the first week of May.
In a review meeting with officials of various government departments here, Mr. Ravindra said that the State government had spent nearly ₹4 crore for the beautification of Manginapudi Beach near Machilipatnam. “All the necessary arrangements for the festival have commenced. Second phase beautification getting done at a cost of ₹1 crore will be completed by April end,” he added.
The tourism department will play the lead role in organising the beach festival. Walking track and approach road are some of the facilities developed as a part of the beautification.
Proposal
Mr. Ravindra told newsmen that the Roads and Buildings Department officials have prepared a ₹87 crore -proposal for repairing and widening of various rural roads in the Machilipatnam assembly constituency.
“The ₹87 crore proposals have been submitted to the higher officials,” Mr. Ravindra said.
The Law Minister said that he hoped that the four drinking water reservoirs under construction would be commissioned by June to ensure supply of drinking water in the Machilipatnam Municipality.
