Thousands witness Lord Malayappa attired as ‘Navaneetha Krishna’

The procession of ‘Chinna Sesha Vahanam’ dominated the proceedings on Tuesday, the second day of the nine-day Brahmotsavams of Lord Venkateswara here.

Dressed in the celestial attire of ‘Navaneetha Krishna’, Lord Malayappa was taken in a procession on the five-hooded golden ‘vahanam’ as scores of bhajan, cultural and classical dance troupes preceded the procession.

Meanwhile, TTD Special Officer A.V. Dharma reddy took stock of the situation during a review meeting with the officials at the newly established control room. He directed the Vigilance personnel to work in tandem with the police and instructed the TTD Superintendent Engineer (electrical) to ensure proper functioning of the LED screens at vantage points.

The TTD also set up six dispensaries and 11 first-aid centres atop the town and roped in the services of 45 doctors and 90 paramedical staff, besides maintaining a fleet of 13 ambulances, out of which four were stationed at all the four corners of the mada streets to meet any kind of exigency.

In the evening, ‘Unjal seva’ was performed, wherein the idols were put on a silver swing and gently rocked amidst the chanting of hymns and traditional temple music.

The festivities came to an end with a procession of ‘Hamsa Vahanam’ in the night.
