District Collector Kantilal Dande on Monday said the district administration was determined to complete the target of constructing one lakh Individual House Hold Latrines (IHHL) by March 2015.
Addressing a gathering at the 66th Republic Day celebrations at Police Parade Grounds, Mr. Dande said a coordinated effort by various departments had resulted in the completion of 70 per cent of the target.
The Collector also gave away cheques worth Rs. 8.5 crore to 1,688 beneficiaries under the SC/ST Sub Plan, Rs. 2.7 crore to 319 SHG groups. Earlier, Mr. Dande received the guard of honour from the armed police battalion. Superintendent of Police, Guntur Urban, Rajesh Kumar, Joint Collector Ch. Sridhar, RDO Bhaskar Naidu and Municipal Commissioner K. Kanna Babu were present. DRM, SCR, Guntur N.K Prasad unfurled the National Flag at the Railway quarters at Nallapadu. Tobacco Board Chairman Koothati Gopal unfurled the National Flag at the Tobacco Board.
